EES Book and Library Awards

As part of our commitment to helping children love reading for pleasure.
We run a number of award programmes across the county for pupils and schools to get involved in.

EES Book Awards (EBA):

Designed to improve literacy, facilitate debate and encourage reading for pleasure among pupils at Key Stage 3, the EES Book Awards (formerly the Essex Books Awards) is entering its 11th year.

Each year the School Library Service shortlists six age-appropriate books for pupils to read over the Autumn term, they can then post reviews and vote for their favourite book online, along with other schools across the county.

By signing up to the EES Book Awards your school will receive:

  • A copy of each of the six shortlisted books, as well as a discounted rate to purchase more copies
  • A pack with guidance and ideas for running activities in your school around the books
  • Access to the EBA forum, where pupils can post reviews, comments and vote for their favourite book
  • An invitation for pupils involved to attend the award ceremony, with a chance to meet the authors

For more information or guidance on how to get involved, please contact us on 033301 38984 or email sls@EESforschools.org
