Topic and Fiction Loans

We provide topic, fiction, artefact and story sack loan boxes packed with resources to support teaching and promote learning in schools. Our huge collection means we're able to support most subject areas. In 2017/18 we provided over 7500 loan boxes to schools with over 230 primary and secondary schools subscribing to our service - that’s more than 50,000 children benefiting from our resources.

What's in our loans?

  • Our standard topic loans contain 20 personally selected items. This may include picture packs, posters and puppets as well as fiction and non-fiction books.
  • Our fiction loans contain fiction, poetry and play sets to support literacy lessons and promote reading for pleasure - Download the fiction loan list.
  • Group readings sets are available in both topic and fiction loans.
  • Class sets (30 copies of the same title) are available as part of the Premier Plus subscription and for an additional fee to other subscribers and PAYG customers. Please select from our class set list.
  • Playscripts are available in sets of 30 copies and are available as part of the Premier Plus subscription and for an additional fee to other subscribers and PAYG customers. Please select from our playscript list.
  • Mini loans consist of 10 non-fiction books only

How many loans can a school have?

  • Schools with a Premier Plus, Premier or Classroom Support subscription are entitled to any two loans per class at any one time. This can include topic, fiction, artefact or story sacks loans.

How do I order a loan?

  • Subscribing schools should download our loan request form
  • Schools with a Classroom Support Mini subscription can have two mini loans per term which should be ordered using theKS1,Lower KS2 or Upper KS2 form

We received a fabulous selection of books on World War Two. The children are really enjoying the matching fiction especially Carrie's War and Waiting for Anya. We really like the facility where we can ask for recommendations on specific subject areas and are already looking forward to seeing what we will receive on our next topic: space.
