Book Club

Recent research by the National Literacy Trust found that ‘young people who enjoy reading very much are three times as likely to read above the level expected for their age as young people who do not enjoy reading at all’ (Children’s and Young People’s Reading in 2015). Our Book Club subscription is the simple way to encourage reading for pleasure outside of the classroom. The SLS Book Club for Years 5 and 6 will introduce children and teachers to new genres and authors, support wider reading and encourage book talk. In the Summer term run your very own school book award to generate extra excitement and get the chance to attend an author event.

The SLS is an Arts Award Supporter and your SLS Book Club is also a validated Children's University Learning Destination. Download  the flyer here.
