School Library Service - Story Sacks

We have 25 different stories available as story sacks and have recently expanded our collection to include Mad about Dinosaurs, Ten Little Pirates, Under the Sea and Zoo Animals.

Each Story Sack contains an average of 10 items. They come carefully packed in a sturdy box and can be delivered and returned via our free van service. All boxes include a story book, a non-fiction book, a variety of interactive toys and games, and a list of content notes, together with teacher’s guidance notes.

Story Sacks offer a multi-sensory approach to the sharing of books and make reading fun. They help develop and improve a child’s reading skills and encourage a life-long love of reading.By using the Story Sack in the classroom you will provide opportunities for the children to:

  • Listen to and enjoy excellent stories
  • Develop their vocabulary by talking about the story and objects
  • Learn about different cultures
  • Be excited by books
  • Develop a love of reading
  • Have fun!

We used the puppet (The Gingerbread Man) to re-tell the story many times, using the Pie Corbett actions too.
