Exchange Loans

We believe our exchange service is the easiest and most cost-effective way to keep your resources up to date. Renew your book stock by up to two books for every pupil each year. We can support schools and academies who use the Accelerated Reader programme from Renaissance Learning by lending levelled books.

What is an exchange collection?

  • A long-term loan of high-quality books which can be swapped twice a year.
  • There are no hidden costs because it's included in our subscriptions.

Why exchange rather than buy?

  • The exchange system allows your school to refresh your library or book corners on a regular basis without additional financial costs, meaning our books are a renewable resource.
  • All School Library Service exchange books come shelf-ready and serviced with classification numbers, plastic jackets on paperbacks and fiction-category labels to help you choose age-appropriate titles.
  • The convenience of a bookbus visit to your school means less time away from the classroom or if you prefer visit our Resource Centre.
  • All School Library Service exchange books are selected by our team of experienced librarians to reflect the best in current children’s literature and to match curriculum and reading for pleasure needs.

How do we exchange books?

  • Bring a collection of titles onto our bookbus or into the Resource Centre from the stock we originally provided the school and swap them for new.
  • If you prefer we will do the exchange for you.
  • Download our guide to exchanging books.
  • Let us know if you have any specific book requirements and we’ll make sure the right stock is on the bus.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements and the associated costs.

The children enjoyed their visit to the bookbus and selecting new books for our library. We now have exciting new resources chosen by the children themselves. They love recommending their choices to other children. Thank you.
