EES Book Awards 2019: Celebrating the Joy of Reading*

The EES Book Awards (EBA) is bigger and better this year as we are offering secondary schools throughout Essex, Thurrock, Southend, Suffolk and Hertfordshire the opportunity to participate.

All participating schools will gain access to our EBA forum where pupils can write comments and reviews about the books, and interact with pupils from other participating schools as well as the authors*.

Sign up for just £95 per school and receive:

  • A copy of each of the shortlisted titles (additional copies available at a discounted rate)
  • A pack with example activities that have been successful in other schools
  • Printable posters and bookmarks
  • Access to EBA forum for posting reviews and voting
  • Invitations to the EBA award ceremony in March 2019, and a chance to meet the authors*
Nomination Categories

Book of the Year Award The EES for School's School Library Service will compile a shortlist of six titles from newly published fiction for young people. The Winner will be selected via a voting system where the participating pupils select their favourite book.

Most Innovative School Schools can submit a statement describing innovative ways that your school has implemented the EES Book Awards. Winner to be decided by EES for School's School Library Service.

Best Pupil Reviews All pupil book reviews on the forum will be reviewed by our team of librarians to find this year's best review.

The really positive aspect of taking part in this reading challenge is that pupil votes really count. Those who take part, get to widen their reading habits, improve their reading skills and meet loads of new people who like reading too! Sign your school up today!

*From October 2019 the EES Book Awards will also be available to primary schools - watch this space for more information.
